Known software issue underpays thousands of customers
CG Technology (formerly Cantor Gaming) is the subject of a formal complaint laid by the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) for allegedly underpaying customers on over 20,000 winning bets totalling $700 000.
In addition, the complaint outlines an amount of $100 000 which was reportedly overpaid on around 11,000 parlay wagers over a three year period.
According to the NGCB complaint, CG Technology also attempted to impede its investigation which was initiated after winners complained of being underpaid.
NGCB is seeking the award of penalties for six complaints amounting to around $100,000 along with further disciplinary actions against the company's licence, the Las Vegas Sun reports.
The issue goes back to an investigation into incorrect payments from CG Technology spanning August 2011 to April 2015. CG Technology said a software issue had been responsible for the errors and undertook to rectify the problem.
However, new complaints from March 2015 suggest the problem continued after a bettor reported being underpaid.
The NGCB said its investigation has revealed incorrect payments due to software issues which were known to the company and only after the authority initiated action did CG Technology begin the process of identifying patrons affected.
CG Technology will no doubt be put under the microscope at the Nevada Gaming Commission's next meeting scheduled for June.
Readers will recall CG Technology's censure and the implementation of a hefty penalty by the NGCB back in January 2014 over its failure to identify its vice president of race and sports risk management Michael Colbert's involvement in an illegal messenger betting operation. The company rebranded from Cantor Gaming shortly afterwards.
