Fortune Magazine has run an interesting insight into the meteoric rise of Boston-based daily fantasy sports start-up DraftKings and its 34-year-old chief executive officer, Jason Robins titled "Big Bet — How Jason Robins is blowing up the $15 billion world of fantasy sports".
The article reveals staggering figures in terms of sign-ups following a huge media push timed for the kick-off of the new NFL season. Two hundred thousand sign-ups in one day, equating to a ten-fold increase in the history of the fantasy sports start-up.
Californian-born Robins is listed as No. 8 on Fortune's 2015 "" list. He was educated at Duke University, went on to serve in a marketing executive capacity at Capital One followed by a similar position at VistaPrint.
It was at VistaPrint that he and two colleagues Matthew Kalish and Paul Liberman, hatched up the idea of DraftKings which subsequently launched in 2012.
