Latest assault caused losses of $200,000 at Winning Poker Network
Winning Poker Network has confirmed that it was again the subject of a Distributed Denial of Services attack late Sunday – the latest in a series targeting the operator, who has refused to pay ransom to the perpetrators in the past.
Early reports suggest that the company's losses due the the inability of players to register for a major million dollar guaranteed tournament are in the region of $200,000.
The tournament commenced well, with almost 600 players registering and plenty of time left for further registrations; then the attack started, disrupting and slowing connections.
WPN battled through the assault and did not cancel the event, but in the end only 1,600 players were able to register, creating a serious and expensive overlay problem for the operator
