Pennsylvania Online Gambling And Dfs Hearing Postponed Again (update)

Budget impasse continues to delay hearings as lawmakers wrestle with solutions

Wednesday's already postponed hearing on online gambling and daily fantasy sports has again been postponed, according to the House Gaming Oversight Committee website.
Local media observers speculated Wednesday that committee chairman Representative John Payne may have postponed the hearing in deference to bipartisan lawmaker efforts to find a solution to the state's $2 billion budget deficit, which involves a search for new revenue streams rather than the imposition of major increases in public taxation.
Various proposals are being considered, including the legalisation of online gambling, as possible generators of these new tax revenues, with some lawmakers suggesting an omnibus bill that could also cover daily fantasy sports, online lottery sales and games and expanded land slot availability.
