State legislature passes $32 billion budget, but still no decisions son how to fund it or clear a $2 billion deficit
The Pennsylvania state legislature finally signed off on the $32 billion state budget Friday before heading off on the July 4 break.
They left unanswered the revenue generation with which they propose to fund the budget and the state’s $2 million deficit, with spokesmen explaining that these aspects will be addressed when the Legislature returns from the break.
That will be of considerable interest to the online gambling industry, because a significant proportion of the revenue proposals depend on an expansion of gambling facilities in the state that includes the legalisation of online gambling.
Several proposals with widely differing tax and fee elements are in play at present in both House and Senate, and it is clear that the two chambers have some reconciliation to carry out (see previous InfoPowa reports).
