Best results in the past decade, regulator reports
Total revenue from Nevada land and online poker (the state does not differentiate between on and offline) topped $16 million in June, according to official statistics – the highest since 2007.
The improvement has been attributed in part to the World Series of Poker tourney, which took place June-July in Las Vegas, attracting thousands of poker fans to the gambling hub.
Nevada Gaming Commission numbers show that live poker was especially active, contributing the lion’s share of the total $16,678,000 in poker revenues recorded by operators in June. Revenues in the month almost doubled those for May 2017,and were half a million dollars more than those achieved in June 2016.
Industry analysts have noted that there were 731 tables active in Nevada in June this year, compared with 960 tables back in 2007, when revenues reached $17.66 million, making this year’s results all the more remarkable.
