State Senate has scheduled a September hearing to discuss VGTs
The issue of whether video gaming terminals should be permitted in Pennsylvania pubs and clubs as part of the long-delayed funding package for the state budget continues to rumble on, with the Senate and the House clearly still divided – the House apparently for inclusion and the Senate against it.
Some observers have opined that this is the single remaining obstacle to legislative consensus on the funding package, which includes legalised online gambling and daily fantasy sports as part of an expansion of gambling in order to create more tax revenues.
The Senate’s latest move is perhaps an indication of its frustration with the House… the chair of the Senate Law and Justice Committee, Sen. Chuck McIIhinney, has scheduled a hearing on VGTs and other topics for September 19 when lawmakers are back at work.
