Good News For Owed Absolute – Ub Poker Players (update)

$33.5 million in owed funds to be released

Garden City Group, the third party payments agency contracted by the US Ministry of Justice to distribute recovered funds from Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker following their discontinuation in April 2011’s “Black Friday” DoJ actions has announced the release of $33.5 million in funds to make Absolute Poker players whole again.
It is understood that over 7,400 player claims will be settled by the payments following the approval of the Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Division of the US Department of Justice. The settlements bring to an end speculation whether Absolute Poker and Ultimate Poker punters would be recompensed.
The latest development follows Full Tilt pay-outs in excess of $118 million to over 44,000 claimants, made possible by Pokerstars acquiring Full Tilt and reaching a multi-million dollar settlement with the Department of Justice (see previous InfoPowa reports).
A total of $45 million was earmarked for Absolute-UB players prior to the release of the current $33.5 million to pay those who have submitted claims. Absolute or UB players who still wish to submit claims should do so before September 7 this year.
