Provisions include an annual tax assessment of 6 percent of gross revenue
A daily fantasy sport legalisation bill drafted by Republican Representative Alan Boothe has made it through an Alabama Senate committee and could now be set for a floor vote, according to local media reports.
The Senate Tourism and Marketing Committee approved the bill on a 6-2 vote.
The bill presently includes provisions which require:
* Operators must register with the state attorney general’s office and pay a yet-to-be-determined registration fee;
* They will also be required to pay an annual tax assessment fee of 6 percent of gross revenue;
* Rules and regulations governing DFS operations in the state will be decided by the state Attorney General’s office;
* A minimum age limit for DFS of 19 years will apply;
* Operators may not base games on college, high school or youth sports;
The Alabama House passed the bill by a vote of 43-38 on April 18.
