Rep. John Payne's HB649 set for House floor vote
Against all the odds, Rep. John Payne's online gambling legalisation bill HB649 is set for second consideration on the Pennsylvania House floor later today (Wednesday), and could result in approval for internet gambling operated from state-licensed land casinos, with a 14 percent tax based on GGR.
The measure passed a House sub-committee last month (see previous InfoPowa reports), and could additionally be incorporated as one of the means to raise treasury revenues for an overdue omnibus budget bill still under consideration.
However, a House vote in favour of the bill is just the start of a process that requires it to be agreed by the state Senate and then signed into state law by the state governor.
