Texas Oil Tycoon Buys E-Sports Team

Team Envy price tag reportedly $35 million

Professional eSports Team Envy is moving to Dallas following a reportedly $35 million investment by Texas oil tycoon Ken Hersh’s Hersh Interactive subsidiary.

The acquisition of the currently North Carolina-based Envy Gaming Inc. is part of a Hersh strategy to make North Texas a leading market in eSports, according to Hersh Interactive managing director Randy Chappel.

ESPN reports that Team Envy will be given the Austin-Dallas spot in the still-evolving Overwatch League, which reportedly already has 30 million fans.
