Nevada casinos contribute 29 percent of national total
Official figures for land casino operations (excluding the $30 billion annually earned by tribal casinos) across the United States show that in August revenues rose 4 percent year-on-year to over $3.4 billion.
Nevada gambling businesses delivering 29 percent of the total as its August numbers soared 15 percent on the back of the McGregor vs. Merryweather fight.
Among the casinos across the 24 states that permit such enterprises, Ohio reported revenues up 6 percent y-o-y to $145.7 million in August; Illinois 8 percent up at $224 million; Maryland up 32 percent at $137.5 million; and Pennsylvania up 2.5 percent at $267.4 million.
Underperformers included West Virginia, down 7 percent at $44.6 million, and Atlantic City in New Jersey – down 0.4 percent at $244.8 million despite internet gaming revenue growing 32 percent.
Available year-to-date figures show overall land casino industry win at $28 billion.
