New York Gambling
New York once offered just a state lottery and horseracing as its only forms of legalized gambling. Casinos were located nearby in Atlantic City and later in Connecticut and Pennsylvania. New York decided to expand gambling to compete with its neighbors.
New York Lottery
New York was the second state to legalize a lottery in 1967. It sells scratch-off tickets and holds lotto drawings. Interstate pools include Powerball, Mega Millions and Cash4Life.
