West Virginia Agrees To ‘Integrity Fee’ For Sports Leagues (Update)

If sports betting becomes more legally available in the USA, the operators in West Virginia will have to pay up

The efforts of the sports leagues to get money for nothing in the form of an “integrity fee” if the US Supreme Court liberalises the sports betting market will pay off in West Virginia.

The state’s sports betting bill, contingent on the court’s judgement, may include provision for the fee, which the state governor says must be paid by the (casino) operators offering sports betting.

“I demanded that the entire fee be paid by the casinos,” Governor Jim Justice said.

WVNews.com reports that a tentative agreement has been reached in West Virginia to pay the integrity fee.
