Overview

Ainsworth are one of the world’s oldest and longest-running developer of casino games on the planet, and the company has been around since 1995. Now, that may not sound like a particularly long time – but the company’s founder – Lee Ainsworth – founded another highly-successful company back in the 1950’s; Aristocrat.

Ainsworth first made a name for themselves by developing a stellar range of land-based slot machines, and these machines can still be found across the world in land-based casinos. 2013 saw the company choose a change of direction – and this is the year that they released their first online video slot, available to players around the world from their desktop computers for the first time.

Today, Ainsworth continues to be a leading figure in both the online and offline gambling worlds – and many of their most popular games have now been “ported” over to HTML5 and Flash, ensuring that you can enjoy them online.

In this Ainsworth software review, we’re going to be taking an in-depth look at the company, and this will include looking at the software platform used, to the games offered by the company – and we’ll finish off the review by looking at some pros and cons of the software, along with some basic company details. So, without further ado, let’s get started!

Software Platform

While Ainsworth began by building games for land-based cabinets, today, the company place a strong emphasis on pushing out video slots to the online gambling world – and this is why many of their games released today, are available in both HTML5 and Flash formats. This allows you to enjoy their games without needing to download or install any pieces of software – and means that you can enjoy their games from the comfort of your home!

Games

Ainsworth have developed a wide variety of games, spanning all different categories, and in the section below, we’re going to look at 10 of the most popular slot machines that the company has developed.

King Kong: King Kong is a notable release for Ainsworth, as it’s one of only four branded slots they’ve released – and as you can probably tell from the name, King Kong is themed around… yes, that’s right; King Kong! The game is incredibly exciting both during the base-game, and the free-spins round – and if you’re lucky enough to trigger the free-spins bonus, you can see yourself awarded up to 99 free-spins!

Golden Cash: Golden cash is a video slot from Ainsworth, and it’s a notable release for the game developer, as it was their first slot to be released on their “Multi-Denom” standalone cabinet. The game has been well-received by players, and one of the main reasons cited for its success, is the fact that it has not one, not two, but three bonus features, alongside a progressive jackpot, which can pay as much as $5,000 when triggered!

Thunder Cash: Thunder cash is one of Ainsworth’s most popular Greek games, and from the moment you open up the game, you will be playing alongside Zeus, as you attempt to win the powerful Greek God battles! The bonus round is the most appealing aspect of the game, as it carries a whopping 3,000X stake maximum win – and when you see just how well-made and good-looking the game is, you’ll be wondering why you didn’t give it a go sooner!

Sheer Magic: Almost all reputable game developers have some form of magician-themed slot… and Ainsworth are no exception, with their “Sheer Magic” game making up their offering in this genre. The game follows the simple life of a magician, and you will see the magician on the side of your screen, dressed appropriately in a magician’s hat, and white gloves. Like many of Ainsworth’s games, Sheer Magic’s main potential lies within the free-spins bonus round, and this is triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view. Once you manage to do so, you can win up to 400 spins – and the free-spins round is known for being able to re-trigger frequently, so often you can go on spinning for quite some time!

50 Dolphins: 50 Dolphins is a popular video slot from Ainsworth, and as the name suggests, the slot is set deep within the trenches of the Atlantic ocean. One of Ainsworth’s most volatile games, 50 Dolphins can offer some tremendous win-potential, in both the base-game and the free-spins feature – and while the base-game itself tends to pay relatively few wins, if you can hit the bonus round, you can often end up walking away with upwards of 300X your stake – so it’s one of the best Ainsworth slots to actually hit a bonus on.

Cash Hound: Cash Hound is the only slot featured on this list that isn’t available to play online (it’s only available to play at land-based casinos), but we feel it deserves a mention here, as it showcases just what Ainsworth are capable of building in a slot. The game features three different progressive jackpot amounts – and all of these amounts can be won regardless of what stake you’re playing. They’re actually awarded randomly during the base-game, so each and every spin is packed with excitement!

Dream Strike: Dream Strike is yet another game from Ainsworth that joins the “Players Paradise” range of games – a collection of slots that are heavily themed around Las Vegas. Dream Strike is packed with action, and alongside an exciting free-spins bonus, there’s a progressive jackpot, which can be awarded randomly on any spin during the main base-game!

Glitter Gems: Glitter Gems is another hugely-popular video slot from Ainsworth, and the game has become one of the developer’s most popular and successful releases online. The game uses a gemstone/jewel theme (something we’ve seen successfully used in video slots from almost all providers), and one of the notable things about Glitter Gems, is that the scatter symbols award cash – something most slots don’t do these days.

Big Thunder: Take a trek through the jungle with Big Thunder – a video slot from Ainsworth that’s set deep in the Amazon jungle. One of the developer’s most ambitious releases so far, Big Thunder uses an interesting 6th reel. If, during the base-game, a bonus symbol lands on the 6th reel and a 5-of-a-kind payline is made, one of the progressive jackpot amounts will be awarded – so it’s not hard to see where the potential lies, within the game!

Eagle Bucks: Eagle Bucks is one of Ainsworth’s more exciting slot releases, and the game (suitably themed around the great American Eagle) presents you with some stunning graphics and images – helping to make your time playing the slot as fun and enjoyable as possible. Another Ainsworth slot to feature paying scatter symbols, Eagle Bucks has an exciting bonus round, which is triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view. It’s then just a case of crossing your fingers, and hoping the Eagle is in the mood for paying out!

As you can see, Ainsworth have developed a solid range of games – and while their titles aren’t as widely-available as games from other providers, such as – say – NetEnt or Microgaming, their games are becoming more commonly seen online – and as mentioned earlier on, it’s not uncommon to see their slots in land-based casinos in North America, Europe, and Australia.
