Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Wraps Up A Busy Year

Licensing granted to Valley Forge Casino and others at last meeting of 2018

At its final 2018 meeting this week the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board issued a new stack of licenses to aspirant operators, starting with the sportsbook application of Valley Forge Casino in partnership with FanDuel Sportsbook in the Paddy Power Betfair group.

The licence does not carry a time limit for operations to commence, but a FanDuel spokesman intimated that there are plans to model the Pennsylvanian venture after on its successful New Jersey enterprise, where it runs the book for Meadowlands.

FanDuel Sportsbook will also be accessible throughout PA as an online/mobile platform, and its presentation revealed mockups of its app skinned with its Valley Forge partners casino logo.

The Board also approved online licensing for Rush Street Interactive and a sports betting licence for online The Stars Group subsidiary BetStars, along with Scientific Games.

TSG may start up its BetStars platform in Pennsylvania from neighbouring New Jersey under its Mount Airey licensing partnership (see previous InfoPowa reports). In addition to sports betting, TSG will also power interactive gaming through its PokerStars brand.

The Scientific Games permit powers Harrahs as primary PA client, but the group has also entered an interactive gaming partnership with Mohegan Sun Pocono, which has yet to submit its application.

Rush Street Gaming also received clearance to offer Pennsylvania online gambling via the Rivers and SugarHouse casinos. It and its network of partners are now fully approved across all verticals – online casino/poker and sports betting.

The Board is reportedly considering a sports betting application from The King of Prussia land casino in Philadelphia, which has partnered with FanDuel Sportsbook.
