A Mega Millions lottery ticket which was purchased in San Diego California is the winning ticket for the half a billion dollar jackpot prize on the Mega Millions lottery, which was drawn last night.
Friday night’s draw, which saw the numbers 17, 19, 27, 40, 68 with a Mega Ball of 2 pulled out, means that the owner of the winning ticket has won the $530 million jackpot on offer. The lucky winner has the option to pick up a cash alternative of $345.2 million instead.
In addition to the massive half a billion dollar win, there were three further tickets that won $1 million each. These were sold in the states of California, Arizona and Washington and matched all five white balls.
The $530 million prize that has been won, is the seventh largest jackpot prize won with Mega Millions and is the fifteenth largest US lottery jackpot prize of all time.
However, it falls someway short of the $768 million which 24 year old Manuel Franco picked up, when playing the Powerball Lottery, which was drawn at the end of March.
The next drawing of the Mega Millions Lottery is on the 11th June and the jackpot prize has been reset to a not so bad $40 million.
