On Thursday last week the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board released the figures for their fledgling online gambling industry, with the results showing a combined revenue of $812,306 from the 15th July to 31st July. With revenue derived by the state in the form of tax coming in at $326,700, due to the 54% tax levied on online slot games.
With the likes of software developers NetEnt now having licenses to offer their game content in the State, the figures released last week show optimism that the State’s online gambling sector could grow quite substantially.
At the time of writing, there are now three online casino operations licensed to serve players in Pennsylvania. These are Parx Casino in Bensalem, Holly Casino at Penn National Race Course and the Sugar House Casino in Philadelphia.
Both Parx Casino and Holly Casino commenced their online operations on the 15th July, with Sugar House Casino following their lead a couple of days later.
Of the online revenues generated, revenue from online slot machines generated the most, a total of $517,712. While online table games brought in $294,594 in revenues.
Of the three casinos which are licensed in Pennsylvania, Sugar House Casino was the front runner, generating $442,796 in revenues.
