The Governor of the state of Arkansas has provided guidance as to when casinos in the state are likely to re-open, after being closed alongside other businesses due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
Governor Asa Hutchinson said on Friday: “Casinos reopening date will depend on health data, the state’s progress in decreasing virus cases and casino adjustments. I am confident we will get there.”
However, Hutchinson’s comments regarding the re-opening of casinos was tempered somewhat by the state’s Department of Health Secretary Nate Smith, who commented: “They are indoors. A lot of people in a small amount of space. Often times, people with significant risk factors.”
“There is smoking going on as well, and you’ve got a lot of people touching stuff, so if you wanted to design a setting to optimize the spread of COVID-19, it would look a lot like a casino.”
Last month all three casinos which operated in Arkansas were ordered to close, a spokesperson for the Downstream Casino Resort, commented that they were already “working on a reopening plan to be carried out at the appropriate time.”
Two days ago we reported here on Casinomeister US the list of procedures that the Nevada Gaming Control Board have drawn up which casinos in Nevada will have to adhere to, once the Governor of Nevada Steve Sisolak takes the decision to allow businesses to re-open.
