Golden Nugget online shows impressive growth but what’s happening to Borgata’s online performance?
May figures released by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE) paint a positive picture as both land and online casinos delivered a strong performance.
Total Gaming Win for the casino market during the month of May was $229.4 million (May 2016: $219.8 million), an increase of 4.3 percent.
Total Land Casino Win rose 2.5 percent to reach $208 million (May 2016: $203 million), while Total Internet Gaming Win rose 27.3 percent to reach $21.2 million (May 2016: $16.5 million).
Year to date the total New Jersey casino market totaled $1.073 billion, up 3.9 percent year-on-year. The casino market grew 1.8 percent to reach $954.3 million and internet gaming increased 29 percent to cross the $1 million mark for the first time with $101.2 million compared to the prior period.
The Golden Nugget led the pack in terms of internet gaming win which reached $5.9 million, up 84.8 percent y-o-y in the month of May. Resorts Digital and Tropicana followed, neck and neck at $4 million each, up 33.8 percent and 27.4 percent respectively. Caesars Interactive delivered $3.6 million, up 11.8 percent but Borgata trailed with $3.5 million, down 11.4 percent y-o-y.
“With a solid performance to date and now on the cusp of the busy summer season, the Atlantic City casino industry seems well positioned to capitalize on these positive trends,” David Rebuck, director of the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, said.
The New Jersey coffers were fattened by gaming taxes amounting to $18.4 million during the month of May 2017.
