But the market remains in decline
Atlantic City's casinos saw their revenue decline by less than 1 percent in March compared to a year ago, according to figures released by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement on Wednesday.
AC casinos took in $202.9 million from land and online gambling in March – a decline of 0.4 percent compared to March 2015.
The Internet gambling component continued to thrive, increasing by nearly 18 percent from last March to $15.5 million (March 2015: $13.2 million).
Brick and mortar casino win of $187.5 million was achieved in March 2016 compared to $190.7 million in March 2015, a 1.7 percent decrease, but Internet Gaming Win of $15.5 million helped to ameliorate the decline.
In the first three months of 2016 Internet Gaming Win was up 27.7 percent to $44.9 million. Total AC Gaming Win was $597.8 million, up 3.1 percent for the first three months of 2016.
Top performers in the internet sector in March were again Borgata in the lead on a stable $4.2 million, followed by the tied Caesars and Tropicana on $3.16 million each and Golden Nugget ($3.07 million) with Resorts Digital bringing up the rear on $1.88 million.
The debut of Pokerstars (Resorts partner) in the last week of the month clearly had an impact on the numbers, generating almost $598,000 in additional revenue to boost the market's total poker take to $2.46 million, up 10.5 percent over March 2015.
