New Achievement In World Series Of Poker Circuit Series

Maurice Hawkins wins two main events running to claim his seventh WSOP Circuit ring

Congratulations to Florida-based poker pro Maurice Hawkins, who this week became the first player in the 10-year history of the World Series of Poker Circuit series to claim two consecutive main event victories and his seventh winner's ring.
Just a few weeks ago Hawkins started his winning run at Horseshoe Council Bluffs WSOPC main event, going on this week to again triumph in the main event of the $1,675 buy-in WSOPC Cherokee after besting a field of 1,008 to win $279,722, bringing his career live tournament earnings to over $2 million.
It wasn't necessarily an uninterrupted road to victory in the Cherokee competition for the Florida pro… going into the final day he was around the bottom end of the 19 survivors until he managed to double up and was then successful in an all-in challenge.
That put him in contention for a final table seat, but again he was one of the shorter stacks until saved by a double up, followed by more of the same to position him strongly at the table.
When Tuscaloosa pro Chip Ervin was eliminated at third for $128,520, Hawkins had a 4 to 1 chip advantage over his last opponent, Leif Force, a Tallahasee professional player. The advantage was too great for Force to overcome, and he had to be content with the runner-up prize of $172,943.
Other final table cashes included:
4 Karthik Ramakrishnan $96,617
5 Phillip Lowery $73,468
6 Brannon Cashion $56,519
7 Corey Bierria $43,984
8 Martin Debruhl Winston $34,625
9 Hamid Izadi $27,579
