Global Poker League Publishes Draft Player List

Around 25 percent of top players approached sign contracts

Alex Dreyfus's new Global Poker League has published its first player draft list, featuring many well-known and respected names in the international game who have signed contracts to play in 12 super-teams.
Each of the twelve team managers will choose three players from the list starting February 25.
Reports indicate that the 203 players who have signed up constitute just 25 percent of the 1,000 players approached to participate in the series, with a number of players expressing reservations about the contract, which reportedly demands a two-year commitment that embraces media and promotional obligations as well as playing in the competitions, and has restrictions among its requirements.
Players who sign up will be paid $100 an hour in the initial year of the project, rising to $150 an hour in the second year.
