Casino Software Providers
Which Providers Are Available?
When it comes to online gambling, there’s one component that’s crucial; software – and, without it, you can’t play…
So it’s fitting that the game development industry is a competitive (and lucrative) one.
The world has a large number of reputable software providers… names like Microgaming, NetEnt, IGT, Playtech, Quickspin, SG Gaming, Thunderkick and Big Time Gaming are just a few of the companies making games, and today, there exist hundreds of different game development companies.
US players, however, face a unique challenge. As online gambling has (until recently) largely been deemed illegal throughout America, many game developers have been hesitant to even try and enter the market. Thankfully, however, this is slowly changing – and new Government regulation has paved the way for online gambling to become regulated and legal throughout America, and naturally, this will see more software providers offering games to US players.
There are, however, a number of game developers already offering US players the ability to play their games online – and below, you’ll be able to see which game developers are currently offering games to players based in the US. The list below is not currently exhaustive, but as more companies enter the US market, we’ll continue to expand and add more reviews, so be sure to check back from time to time to see what’s new!
What Does A Software Provider Actually Do?
Software providers are best-known for actually building and programming casino games. Slot machines, video pokies, table games… developers spend months designing and developing these games, which are then hosted on online casino websites.
Some software providers do much more than that however, and actually build the platform the games run on. Microgaming are a good example of this, as they run their own distribution platform (called Quickfire). Other software providers build back-end casino software that operators can use to avoid having to build a proprietary system…
So there’s no short answer to what software providers actually do – but almost all of them develop their own games, and offer them to casinos, or to other platforms.
