Sen. Dana Young’s S374 approved 9 vs. 2 in Rules Committee and heads to the Senate floor
Florida Senator Dana Young’s proposal to legalise daily fantasy sports in the state, bill S374, has been approved 9 vs. 2 in the Senate Rules Committee and now heads to the floor, media reports late Thursday revealed..
The bill seeks to exempt the genre from state gambling regulations but is being opposed by Seminole tribal gambling interests which have a compact with the state government.
Around 3 million Floridians play some sort of fantasy sports, advocates say.
S374 is a companion bill to House bill HB223 introduced by Rep Jason Brodeur and currently making its way through committee stages (see previous InfoPowa reports).
