Delaware Superior Court Throws Out Sports Betting Case

Inmate of a state correctional facility was running an illegal online betting operation

Litigation filed in 2013 against a USA Today newspaper president was finally consigned to the trash bin as "utterly frivolous" this week by a panel of judges in the Delaware Superior Court; the only surprise is that the case lasted as long as it did.
Back in 2013, Delaware correctional facility inmate Alton Brown (60) accused USA Today of ruining his illegal, prison-based online betting business by deciding to cease publication of Las Vegas betting odds and other such gambling data on sporting events.
Brown cited then USA Today president Larry Kruger in his lawsuit.
The Huntingdon County court initially approached understandably threw the case out, but a persistent Brown appealed the case to the state Superior Court, which this week refused to hear it.
Senior Judge William H. Platt noted in the state court opinion that Brown had claimed he needed the [USA Today] information to run his illegal book-making operation in prison. The judge also noted that Brown has an 18-year history of filing baseless complaints from behind bars.
