German market first stop in International expansion plans?
US fantasy sports operator DraftKings is expected to expand into Europe with the award of a newly introduced controlled skill games license from the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA).
"We are pleased that Malta has recognized the need for special licensing of daily fantasy sports and other skilled based games," Jason Robbins, co-founder and chief executive officer of DraftKings, said.
"The Malta Gaming Authority is an innovative organization and it is clear that they have put a lot of thought and rigor into this process."
DraftKings is expected to begin its international expansion strategy with the launch of a daily fantasy sports offer in the German market within the first quarter of 2017, Draftkings director, Jeffrey Haas, said in a Wall Street Journal report.
