The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, who are responsible for overseeing the regulation of all gambling within the state, have announced they have handed out financial penalties to two casino operators, who are licensed to operate in Pennsylvania.
The fines were the result of Board approvals at its public meeting of consent agreements between the PGCB’s Office of Enforcement Counsel and:
- Downs Racing, L.P.,operator of Mohegan Sun Pocono in Luzerne County, a $110,000 fine for underage gaming violations; and
- Washington Trotting Association, LLC, operator of the Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Washington County, a $10,000 fine for allowing employees to work with expired gaming licenses.
The financial penalty levied on Downs Racing concerned four incidences whereby individuals under the age of 21 were allowed unchallenged access to the gaming floor. In the first instance, a seventeen year old male proceeded to wager at a slot machine, before attempting to play at one of the table games.
The second instance concerned an 18 year old female who was able to wager on a slot machine. The third instance being a 19 year old male, who was able to play at the table games on the gaming floor. The fourth and final instance concerned a 19 year old female, who for seven consecutive days running, was able to access the gaming floor, wager on slot and table games and was also served alcohol.
The financial penalty that was levied against the Washington Trotting Association concerned two incidents in which employees of the casino were permitted to work after their gaming licenses expired and without authorization being given by the Board.
