Foxwoods Casino Launches Real Money Livestreamed Gambling Action

But will not profit financially from the venture at present due to Connecticut state laws

The agreement between Malta provider Authentic Gaming and the Connecticut-based Foxwoods land casino owned by the Mashantucket Pequot tribe to livestream real money casino action internationally (see previous InfoPowa reports) has gone live… but Foxwoods will not presently profit financially from the venture.

Foxwoods’ executive director of online gaming, Seth Young, explained to local reporters this week that online gambling has not yet been made legal in Connecticut, and until this situation is changed the profits from the venture will go to Authentic Gaming and its licensees in Europe and elsewhere, and bets will not be accepted from local punters.

For now, the venture remains a tourism marketing exercise as far as Foxwoods is concerned, enabling the casino to establish the company’s brand with new audiences against the day that legislative change makes a more directly commercial outcome possible.

“It’s a great new way for us to proliferate our brand internationally,” Young said. “It opens up tourism opportunities for the property. If a customer in Europe or wherever is engaging with our table games, perhaps they’ll decide they’d like to visit and experience the property itself.”
