Legislative season ended this week with no progress for proposals on daily fantasy sports, sports betting, online lottery, online casino and poker
Hopes that last-minute progress may be made on gambling bills before the Connecticut lawmakers were dashed Wednesday when the legislative season closed with no meaningful advances, resulting in the bills on daily fantasy sports, sports betting, online lottery, online casino and poker running out of time for this year.
In recent months there was optimism as the bills were actively discussed, with even local tribal gambling interests the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes voicing support for the legalisation of sports betting and online gambling (see previous InfoPowa reports), but it was to no avail.
Supporters of online gambling legalisation will now have to focus their efforts on a 2019 resurrection of the bills, in the knowledge that legislators will hopefully have a better appreciation and understanding of the industry and the benefits it can bring if regulated and licensed.
