The Hawaii State legislative session has closed with no further progress for online gambling legalisation bill SB 677, which stalled at committee stage after being introduced by State Sen. Will Espero earlier this year.
SB 677 proposed some liberalisation in Hawaii’s ultra-restrictive gambling laws, recommending the formation of a state internet lottery corporation and the introduction of online lottery sales, along with the legalisation and licensing of online casino and poker action, suggesting that tax revenue from these verticals would be used to fund education initiatives and address problem gambling issues.
