Hopes For Online Gambling In Massachusetts Revive

Sen. Bruce Tarr actively lobbying for legalisation

The state of Massachusetts may yet join Delaware, New Jersey and Nevada in legalisation online gambling, according to reports in the Gloucester Times, which note that state senate Minority Leader, Sen. Bruce Tarr is actively lobbying for regulation and licensing of the genre under the oversight of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
Tarr proposes that online gambling licenses be granted exclusively to two major land casino operators, MGM Springfield and Wynn Everett, who are expected to commence operations in the future and will benefit from being allowed to offer online gambling.
Supporters of the bill believe an additional revenue stream from online gambling could help the new casinos get on their feet. "We don't want them to be undermined by other states that allow it," Tarr told the Gloucester Times.
