Las Vegas Review Journal Appoints New Managing Editor (update)

Adelson family's Nevada newspaper promotes from within

The Adelson family-owned Nevada newspaper Las Vegas Review Journal announced Wednesday that veteran company newsman Glenn Cook (45) has been appointed managing editor of the publication.
Now in his twentieth year with the Journal, Cook holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Arizona (class of '92) and a master's degree in journalism from the University of Las Vegas achieved in 1999. He is married with three children.
He was interim editor earlier this year before Keith Moyer was brought on as editor-in-chief, and was named interim managing editor in February.
"Combined with his understanding of the RJ's inner workings and knowledge of the Las Vegas news scene, he emerged as a clear, frankly easy, choice for the position," Moyer said in an email to the newsroom Wednesday.
During his LVRJ career Cook has worked on the editorial page for 11 years, including 7 years as a Sunday columnist. He was also city editor for four years and a news copy editor for four years.
Cook's role going forward will be managerial rather than writing, but he said that he looked forward to rebuilding staff losses and improving the newspaper.
"I want to rebuild the newsroom into a 21st century news organization and make the RJ essential to the community," he said.
