All major operators expected to apply
The State of Mississippi has become the first state to legalize daily fantasy sports (DFS) in 2017 following the signing of House Bill 967 by Governor Phil Bryant.
Regulations, which explicitly legalise fantasy contests with an entry fee, will be controlled and overseen by the Mississippi Gaming Commission.
License requirements, valid for three years at a cost of $5,000 and an 8 percent on GGR tax rate, include strong responsible gaming and consumer protection provisions, a minimum 18-years-of-age limit, security of contest data and segregation of player funds from operational funds.
The list of states where DFS has been legalised is growing, and includes:
Colorado
Indiana
Virginia
Tennessee
New York
Missouri
Massachusetts
Maryland
Kansas
