Best of 16 applicants
The New York State Gaming Commission Facility Location Board has given final approval for three new land casinos selected earlier this year from 16 corporate applications.
Located in the Sullivan, Seneca and Schenectady counties in the north east of the state, the three successful applicants are Empire Resorts, which has plans for the $630 million Montreign Resort Casino; a $425 million Lago Resort and Casino for Peninsula Pacific; and the $300 million Rivers Casino and Resort which Rush Street Gaming will build.
Peninsular Pacific expects its project to be up and running in the first half of 2017, whilst the other two operations will open the following year.
Tioga Downs' proposal to expand its racetrack with a casino has already been approved by the siting board.
