But marketing will be more circumspect
It looks as though the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue had thrown land casino operators in the state a bone in the form of mild restrictions on how the state i-Lottery markets its online games, whilst rejecting their appeal that the games be discontinued altogether.
InfoPowa readers may recall last week’s report that the casino operators were concerned at the competition the online games represented and asked the Department of Revenue, which supervises the i-Lottery, to have the games discontinued after barely a month on offer.
The marketing restrictions will ensure that terms such as “slot-style” or “casino-style” will no longer be used.
In a response to the operators, Revenue Secretary C. Daniel Hassell explained that affiliates of its iLottery vendor, Scientific Games International, created the ads using their own graphics and language, not that of the lottery’s, and acknowledged that this had been a mistake which was corrected immediately.
