Pennsylvania Lawmakers Postpone Internet Gambling Vote (update)

To later stage in overall budget negotiations

The Pennsylvania State House of Representatives Gaming Oversight Committee postponed a much anticipated vote scheduled today (Wednesday) which may lead to State casinos expanding into internet gaming (see previous InfoPowa reports). The meeting was rescheduled for Tuesday, October 27 2015.
The committee was also expected to continue discussions on limiting daily fantasy sports to State casinos, however, that too was postponed and has been rescheduled for November 10, 2015 and another on November 19, 2015.
The postponements were reportedly made on request of Republican majority leaders who are currently involved in ongoing budget negotiations, the outcome of which may weigh on decisions concerning further gambling expansion.
Sheldon Adelson's Coalition to Stop Internet Gambling (CSIG) timed a media campaign targeting chairman of the Gaming Oversight Committee and author of one of the more promising bills for the expansion of internet gaming in the State, Rep. John Payne.
The week-long $176 000 television advertising campaign paints Payne as "working hard to legalize predatory online gambling".
