Pennsylvania Online Gaming Hearing Postponed To October (update)

Still no explanation…and the Senate has less than a week before adjournment

The cancellation of Tuesday's Pennsylvania House Gaming Oversight Committee's exploratory hearing on DFS and online gambling has been followed by an announcement that the hearing will now take place on October 18, leaving the matter in limbo as the omnibus HR 2150 gambling bill sits in the Senate.
HR 2150, which includes DFS and e-gaming elements, was passed as part of the critical state budget bill by the House in June this year, with lawmakers expecting the bill to contribute $100 million annually in licensing and fees to help balance the state budget.
The Senate is due to shut down in a matter of days, and has thus far progressed only a separate daily fantasy sports bill through its Appropriations Committee, leaving observers guessing.
In October, there will be two brief Senate sessions before the break for the November elections: October 17th to October 19th and October 24th to October 25th.
