Buy-in reduced for 2016 event
Poker television network Poker Central, in collaboration with Poker Pro Productions and the Aria Resort and Casino, has announced the launch of the second edition of its Super High Roller Bowl tournament.
Clint Stinchcomb, CEO of Poker Central, revealed Thursday that the eight all-time money leaders in poker, including Daniel Negreanu, Antonio Esfandiari and Phil Hellmuth, are expected to play, and that the buy-in for the event has been reduced to $300,000 from last year's $500,000, generating a prize pool that will likely top $15 million.
This year, the Super High Roller Bowl features seven 7-handed tables and is capped at 49 seats. The winner will take home around $5 million.
"There are few poker events that can change the landscape of the game overnight — the Super High Roller Bowl is one of them," Stinchcomb boasted in a press release.
"With 14 of the seats being reserved by Aria for their non-professional, super high rollers that only leave 35 seats for other players. As interest has already built up, we expect to sell out quickly."
