Pokerstars Officially Live In New Jersey (update)

Significant milestone realised

Amaya Inc. subsidiary PokerStars, in partnership with Resorts Casino Hotel, is now officially live with online poker and casino offers in New Jersey following a soft launch last week.
"We could not be more proud to bring PokerStars to New Jersey," commented David Baazov, chairman and chief executive officer of Amaya. "Working with our partner, Resorts Casino Hotel, we look forward to providing the most exciting, innovative and secure gaming experience to New Jersey."
PokerStars are wooing previously registered customers with a welcome offer based on their play history. These players are invited to create new accounts using their previous account log-in details and are eligible to receive their last held VIP status, play money chips, and StarsCoin (previously known as frequent player points), the company said.
"This is a great day for online gaming, for state players and residents and for Atlantic City," added Morris Bailey, owner of Resorts Casino Hotel in a press statement. "Resorts has worked diligently to build a home for globally renowned brands in New Jersey and, with the addition of PokerStars, is proud to introduce yet another respected partner."
In related news, NYX Gaming Group announced the soft launch of NextGen games on PokerStars New Jersey, the first in a series of planned releases.
"It's great to see PokerStars launching in New Jersey with over 20 titles from our studio NextGen," NYX Gaming Group chief executive officer, Matt Davey commented.
The deal is part of a six-year licensing agreement inked between NYX Gaming Group and Amaya in the third quarter of 2015.
"PokerStars is without doubt, one of the most respected and established gaming brands in the world and I'd like to wish their team all the best for a successful launch next week," Davey concluded.
UPDATE: Pokerstars subsequently released a few numbers from its first full day of operations in New Jersey, reporting that business picked up as the afternoon progressed, culminating in almost 1,200 players by early evening – a very creditable first day showing with numbers that the company's rivals in New Jersey will probably envy.
There is currently some speculation as to whether Jason Somerville's popular Twitch streaming contributed to the interest – starting just after 3pm, his New Jersey live streaming reached 8,000 viewers by the evening.
