Claiming that it holds patents originally granted to William Junkin, the chairman and CEO of FantasySports.com, a relatively recently registered and unknown Texas company has been stirring the daily fantasy sports sector up with a series of lawsuits citing top operators and game developers.
The company's target list includes DraftKings, ESPN, DraftDay and FanDuel, Activision Blizzard, Electronic Arts, Take-Two, Zynga, and Konami, according to industry publications that have seen copies of the documentation.
The allegedly infringed patents cover interactive games based on events occurring in real time, and were apparently originally granted to Junkin, founder of a fantasy sport leagus as far back as the 'nineties and developer of real time scoring technology.
Virtual Gaming Technologies was only registered in Texas towards the end of September 2015.
