The month of July was a good month for casinos in the State of Nevada, with the Nevada Gaming Control Board releasing figures that showed winnings exceeded $1bn for the fourth month in a row. Up 2.9% when compared to the same month last year in 2018.
Revenues accrued by way of taxation in July and thus filling the state coffers came to just over $74m, an increase of 32.5% when compared to the same period last year. The difference in tax revenue compared to gaming revenue for the same period last year is due to casinos cashing in tax credits during July 2018.
The Las Vegas strip casinos also showed an increase in overall winnings, with an increase of 1.6% compared to July 2018.
Across the state, slot machine revenues were up by 4.4%. Taxes on gambling are the second high source of revenue for Nevada, after sales taxes.
