Golden Nugget wants to offer both online slots and online table games, but not online poker
The top operator in the New Jersey online gambling market, Golden Nugget, has applied for online casino and sports betting licensing in neighbouring Pennsylvania, just under Wednesday’s closing deadline for qualified gaming entities (existing land licence holders).
The company’s New Jersey operations have shown consistent success for Golden Nugget with regular monthly revenue numbers exceeding $ 8 million and on occasion $9 million, way ahead of rivals and comprising just over a third of the total NJ online gambling market.
Golden Nugget has a partnership with Pennsylvania land casinos (Rivers and SugarHouse) owner Rush Street Gaming, which has online casinos and sportsbooks running in New Jersey under a Golden Nugget licence, indicating a possible reciprocal arrangement in Pennsylvania.
Closest rival MGM Resorts submitted its online application to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board earlier this week, riding on the credentials of its Borgata subsidiary.
The exclusive offer of licensing to Pennsylvanian operators and their partners closed Wednesday with 11 online licenses still available from the original 39. These will now be open to applications from licensed gambling companies that do not have a physical presence or partner in the state
By category, these remaining opportunities cover: 5 for online poker; 3 for online slots and 3 for online table games.
