Benny Glaser won his third career bracelet and his second in a week
Brit online and live professional poker player Benny Glaser (27) is being hailed as a star at this year's World Series of Poker, having achieved two winner's bracelets this week to bring his collection of WSOP jewellery to three.
In his latest victory, Glaser took charge in the $10,000 buy-in Omaha Hi-Low Championship event to take home the $407,194 main prize and his third bracelet mere days after taking down the $1,500 buy-in Omaha Hi-Lo event for $244,103.
Glaser faced some formidable opposition on the final table that included Felipe Ramos, Jason Mercier, Todd Brunson, Matt Glantz and Doug Lorgeree.
He certainly did not have it all his own way…at one point he was the low stack among the surviving eight players, but was able to stage an impressive comeback to enter an additionally required fourth day as the chip leader, chased by Lorgeree and Glantz.
Three-handed play involving such talented and experienced players was always going to be exciting, and so it proved to be over the following two hours as the trio fought for supremacy, with a number of swings in leadership and some audacious and aggressive action.
In the end it was Glantz who was eliminated, clearing the way for the heads up between Glaser and Lorgeree, with the latter seizing an early lead, only to have it wrested from him by a determined Brit.
Glaser then surged ahead on four big pots to finally engineer the departure of the Chicago pro with the runner up prize of $251,665.
For Glaser the win was especially pleasing because the match was live-streamed, which meant that his family and friends in the UK could share his triumph.
Other final table cashes looked like this:
Matt Glantz $175,754
Grzegorz Trelski $125,125
Robert Campbell $90,846
Per Hildebrand $67,291
Todd Brunson $50,872
