U.s. Professional Golf Gets Closer To Online Gambling

PGA Tour asks for proposals from sports data companies

The prestigious and influential Professional Golfers' Association Tour (PGA Tour) appears to be moving into a closer relationship with the online sports betting industry, reportedly issuing a request for proposals from sports data providers with a view to presenting real-time relevant tournament information to online sports betting companies.
Bloomberg business news reports that the request is at this stage merely exploratory and refers to a "potential entry into the online sports gaming category," a position subsequently confirmed by a PGA Tour official.
The Tour will likely have to engage in some policy re-thinking if it decides the financial rewards are worth embarking on a new approach to online sports betting; last year the organisation prohibited its members from becoming involved in the daily fantasy sports sector on grounds that its legal status was unclear.
