Publication reports that the issue has been settled
A libel suit launched in 2013 by Las Vegas land casino mogul Sheldon Adelson against a Wall Street Journal writer has been dismissed by mutual consent, with each side agreeing to bear their own legal costs, no monetary award and the article in question untouched… in short pretty much a draw.
The article with which Adelson took umbrage was written by the Journal's then-Hong-Kong-based Asia gambling-industry reporter, Kate O'Keeffe, who characterised Adelson as 'a scrappy, foul-mouthed billionaire from working-class Dorchester, Mass.'
Adelson said he was not foul-mouthed and filed a libel action.
A Journal spokeswoman said: 'We are pleased that the parties have agreed that the suit will be dismissed. The Journal and Ms. O'Keeffe remain fully committed to continuing to provide fair and accurate reporting in all matters, including in our coverage of Mr. Adelson and his businesses.'"
Adelson has not commented on the matter.
