New law is contingent on the US Supreme Court decision
The moves by West Virginia lawmakers to ensure that the state is in pole position in the event of a positive Supreme Court decision on wider US sports betting (see previous InfoPowa reports) has seen both Chambers of the Legislature pass the necessary bills, which now head to the state governor’s desk for signature.
The law is specifically dependent on a positive ruling from the Supreme Court and would allow wagering on professional and collegiate sports by persons 21 years of age or older.
If approved by the West Virginia Lottery Commission, the measure would also allow online and mobile betting.
